When Duran Audio first introduced AXYS® Beam Steering Technology to the world in 1993, people questioned whether it was even possible to electronically steer a beam of sound using a fixed array of loudspeakers.
This skepticism is understandable. After all, if you had only read how a loudspeaker itself works – but had never heard one – you might guess that intelligible speech reproduction was possible. But you’d be unlikely to grasp that a combination of speakers could produce a soundfield of such complexity an entire orchestra could be brought to life.
However, that was back then. The first commercial installation of AXYS® Digital Directivity Control (DDC) took place 16 years ago and the system has been extensively proven in airports, railways and other public spaces throughout the world.
Duran Audio has brought similar levels of excellence to systems for theatres, music venues and concert touring, often through hire companies. Some of these designs now bear the designation ‘G2’ to signify that they have been up-rated with ‘second generation’ Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
